RE:       Nominations for Classified Senate representatives 

It’s that time of year!  When we have to say good-bye and thank you to some of our current Senate representatives and provide an opportunity for you and other classified staff members to begin your journey!  Current terms end June 30, 2010 and new terms start July 1, 2010.  Now is your chance to nominate and vote for your new representatives.  

Currently we will be accepting nominations for the following positions: 

Vice President – 2 year term
Recording Officer – 1 year term
Treasurer - 2 year term
4 Senator positions – 2 year term
Parliamentarian – 1 year term

Regular meetings of the Classified Senate are held twice a month on Thursdays from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Executive Board members meet a half hour before regular meetings.  All elected members of the Senate shall serve two-year terms, unless otherwise stated.  No member shall serve more than two consecutive two-year terms.  No officer shall hold more than one office concurrently.  Senate members shall serve from the time they are elected until the end of their term.

Any classified member may make nominations.  Elections will be held by secret ballot and kept confidential.  The Election Committee shall tally the ballots and announce the results. 

Nominations.  All classified staff members must be employed at Fullerton College to serve on the Senate.  Nominations must be in writing using the attached form, and sent to: Monica Hagmaier – Business & CIS Office or emailed to: mhagmaier@fullcoll.edu by 12:00 noon on Friday, April 30, 2010. 

Voting will take place on Tuesday, May 11th and Wednesday,  May 12th in 2 locations – next to the Mailroom and out in the Quad area.  Winners will be announced on Friday May 17^th. 

You may nominate yourself or another eligible classified staff member.  This year, in an effort to improve our election and voting, we will be asking all who run in the election for 2 – 3 sentences explaining why they would like to be a part of senate.  We feel this statement will help in making your selections.
