The California School Employees Association is the largest classified school employee union in the United States, representing nearly 250,000 school support staff throughout California.

NOCCCD Chapter 167 provides members opportunities to participate in shared governance committees,
hiring committees, and more.

Classified Leadership Institute

CLI seeks to promote leadership training while strengthening the classified presence in participatory governance at the local and state level. The conference is open to all Classified Professionals working at the 116 California Community Colleges.

Classified Leadership Institute 2024

Riverside Convention Center June 5 – June 7, 2024

Fullerton College Classified Senate had the honor as reigning, two time Spirit Stick winners to judge this year’s Spirit Competition. Your senate officers and senators attended workshops, met fellow classified leaders, and planned for the new academic year, including updating our Bylaws. We also won 1st place for the Classified Senate Website Competition. View our awards in the Classified Senate lounge and join us at CLI next year in 2025.

2022 - 2023

Classified Leadership Institute 2023

Visalia Convention Center June 7 – June 9, 2023

Classified leaders from all 116 California Community Colleges converged near Sequoia National Park last summer. Your senate officers and senators attended workshops, met fellow classified leaders, and planned for the new academic year.

Fullerton College Classified Senate also became the first senate to win the Spirit Award twice! Your senators will return to CLI in 2024 — and you are invited to join them!

AAHHE Conference 2023

College of Southern Nevada, North LV Campus March 1 – 3, 2023

Through Professional Activity funding, Classified staff Valarie Salazar, Annika Shellenbarger, and Cheyenne Mann, alongside the Director of Educational Partnerships and Programs/Promise Dr. Deniz Fierro presented at the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education 18th Conference. Their roundtable joint presentation, alongside CSUF partners titled “Beyond the Promise: Leveraging partnerships & creating systemic change for Latinx college access, transfer, and attainment” highlighted lessons learned and provided examples of initiatives from intersegmental collaborations to support college, career, and life success of both campuses Latinx students.

They also attended breakout sessions regarding topics around serving and supporting Latinx students. The keynote by Interim CCC Chancellor, Dr. Daisy Gonzales shared her background and covered the Radically Student-Centered Leaders Checklist.
